Kim and I recently spent a couple of days hiking in a treasure of natural wonder. Waterfalls abound in Ricketts Glen State Park, Pennsylvania, a haven for waterfall lovers with 22 within its boundaries. Eighteen of these waterfalls are on a 3.2 mile loop beside the trails. Another four are on a trail leading South from the loop to State highway 118. As we walked the Highland Trail through the upper part of the park we felt like we were in a natural cathedral with towering trees and boulders the size of elephants. Rocks were often havens of moss or lying on top of one another making me wonder how they got where they now rest. As we descended on the Falls Trail through Glen Leigh we were greeted by one waterfall after another interspered with rapids. At a point named Waters Meet the Falls Trail goes South through Kitchen Glen with three more waterfalls and another across the highway at the end. Ascending on the West side of the loop on the Falls Trail through Ganoga Glen we had a steep climb toward the top but always in view of the waterfall wonders that lay beside us. On the second day we ascended the Falls trail from the point it crosses the highway. This gallery is a selection from the many images I took during our two days in the Park. It can only give a hint of the beauty and the feelings that this natural wonder elicits.
